Pumpkin Love


Spring and fall are my favorite seasons. At the start of every fall, I usually head to my mom’s near Winchester, VA where there is a ton of orchards. We also head to the mountains for various fall festivals–but this year and last, we have made going to Montpelier Farms a family tradition. The best part about it? The farm is only a good 20-25 min drive away, close to Bowie, MD.  They have a huge corn maze, a slide for the kids (which is super fun for the adults too), hay rides, hot apple cider, a pumpkin patch and much more.  If you are only looking to purchase a pumpkin and walk around in a patch, head to Queen Anne Farm which is near Montpelier.

Once you pick your pumpkin, enter it into the Pumpkin Carving Contest sponsored by CPRC- it’s this Saturday at the Market and the details are below…

Calling all Cheverly Pumpkin Picassos for first CPRC sponsored Family Pumpkin Carving Contest! Join the Pumpkinpalooza on October 25 at the Community Market. The Contest is BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) already carved at home, one entry per family and prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories including:
Most Artistic/Creative
Best Use of Pumpkin
GrandPrize Winner.
No props, pumpkins must stand alone.
Drop off: 8:45-9:15 am
Voting (by Ballot): 9:30-10:30 am
Winners Announced: 11:00 am
Take Home Pumpkins at the close of Market
Prizes will be gift cards for use at the Cheverly Market.
