Cheverly Gives Back!

Last night on my way home from work I had the great privilege to run by three neighbors’ homes with money in hand. All three of my checks were for fundraising items. St. Ambrose is selling Fair Trade Chocolate Advent Calendars (yum!), St. Jerome’s is having a raffle, and of course, we have the huge fundraiser for Cheverly United Methodist Church. All are worthy organizations and I’m so happy that my neighborhood provides me a way to give back.

Did you receive one of the plastic bags on your door a couple weeks ago? The Cheverly Boy Scouts went scouting for food and the incredible people in our community gave back. (see picture above sent out to the community listserv from Aisha Abram) If you were unable to help out with the canned goods, don’t worry- the Cheverly Parent Resource Center is helping to provide Thanksgiving meals for some of the neediest families from our local elementary school, Spellman. Consider a small donation of $15 to provide a holiday meal for an entire family. More information can be found on CPRC’s website.

What a beautiful community to be a part of. This week we have people raising money to help those in need, and this weekend we have a huge fundraiser for our local church. Thank you to the boy scouts, cub scouts and all who volunteer so that Cheverly can give back. And that’s just another reason why I Choose Cheverly.

Please join CPRC for our open gym fundraiser at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex on Saturday, November 22 at 2:30 PM. The cost is $5/ person. CPRC is subsidizing the cost of this event. Please consider making a donation to benefit our Spellman Thanksgiving Food Drive. Cash and checks accepted.
