Franklins Restaurant. Not only do they have great food, (I’d highly recommend the Northern California Pizza) they have an awesome general store (pictured above) where I can find all the fun old time candy! Located close to us in Hyattsville on Route 1, this restaurant supports many of our local community groups. On Monday Franklins will give 10% of your bill to support our Cheverly Parents Resource Center (CPRC) and on Tuesday, May 5th they will give 20% to Cheverly Community Market. (details below) A HUGE thank you to Mike Franklin for supporting our community.
On another note, exciting news from Mike Franklin- he will be opening another restaurant down the road near the University of Maryland, Franklin’s Grill and Oyster Bar.
Cinco de Market Fundraiser: Support Our Maryland Market Money Matching Program
Tuesday, May 5, 2015 Franklin’s / All day: 11:30am-9:30pm
All day long, 20% of your dining, carry out or general store purchase, before taxes, will be donated by Franklin’s—just provide your receipt and mention the Cheverly Community Market.
There is a reason “Community” is our middle name. We believe a vibrant Market that provides fresh, nutritious food from local farms directly contributes to the health of local citizens and strengthens community.
That’s why the Cheverly Community Market was one of the first to participate in the Maryland Market Money dollar-for-dollar matching program. Customers who spend their SNAP, WIC-FVC, or FMNP-Senior/WIC federal nutrition benefits at our Market, receive up to $5 in matching funds to put towards fresh fruits and vegetables.
Last year, this program was made possible through a grant. This year, those funds are not guaranteed. That’s why we’re asking you to join us for “Cinco de Market” to raise funds so we can continue this matching program and outreach around it.
All day long, 20% of your dining, carry out or general store purchase, before taxes, will be donated by Franklin’s—just provide your receipt and mention Cheverly Community Market. Grab some food and then shop ahead for Mother’s Day.
You can stop by Franklin’s anytime during business hours on May 5; the Cheverly Community Market board will be onsite for a “meet and greet” from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
