Ahhh…it’s that time of year again. The holidays. Time to put up your tree and decorate your home in lights. We have many family traditions during the holiday season and a couple just happen to take place in our neighborhood. I’m obsessed with the Cheverly Santa. I still don’t know who is dressed up (will someone tell me?!) but I’m quite certain this Santa has been coming to Cheverly for like, maybe…50 years?! Ha. I love it. Barbara our parks and recreation leader runs the show and announces Santa’s arrival for the kids. (this begins at 11am on Saturday at the Community Center. Santa shows up around 11:45, I believe) The only downside to this event is that if you end up at the middle or end of the line, it might take a long time to meet Santa. The Cheverly Santa is a good listener and some kids love to talk. It really does crack me up and my boys look forward to it every year.
On Friday night we have something special for all Cheverly residents—young and old, single, married, with or without kids—everyone should come to a special community holiday celebration that will begin at 6:45 at the Community Center. Local school groups will be preforming and then the entire community will walk together to Legion Park (in front of the Methodist Church) for the tree lighting ceremony. I love these Cheverly traditions. Thank you town counsel for putting these together so we all can celebrate. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!
