Cheverly Schools: Gladys Noon Spellman

Meet my friend, Chase- She is a Cheverly resident and one of my work out partners! She also has 3 boys of her own and is the new PTA President at Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary, our local public school. Not only does this school have a new principal, it has a new PTA President who is active and involved in making a positive difference in our local school. Today they had an open house and Chase took me and many others on tours of the school. I’m overwhelmed. I have that not so fun mother angst where I want to keep my little boy at my home forever. It’s so hard to let go and it seems like my son was just born. Now he is 5 and I’m shopping around for schools. Currently there is a lot going on in my head that I need to process before typing any of it on here, but I do have to say that I’m impressed with the positive steps at the school being made by Chase and so many other moms and dads from our neighborhood. We CAN make a difference by being involved in making our community schools great. Three cheers for some awesome moms at the open house who are active in the PTA. School options are always a hot and controversial topic. I’d love feedback from those of you who have kids in our local schools.  Feel free to comment below.

Our kids are at Hoyer Montessori but if we hang gotten in we were excited about the diverse community at Spellman too. We recently went to their Halloween dance and enjoy how they are reaching out to the entire community and that Spellman is hoping to be a community school.
