When you think about your childhood, what memories come to mind? I had a neighborhood ‘gang’ at age 11. We were best friends (we all lived on the same street) and one year we etched our names into our neighborhood’s bridge. I don’t remember many specifics, but times with those friends stand out. Thinking back, I don’t know how I’m still alive (I’m being sarcastic for those of you who do not know me)…We didn’t have cell phones and we ran around all over my neighborhood (including near water) without any parental supervision. And my mom let us do this?! When I moved to DC and thought about the idea of having a family I honestly wondered how I could do it. Would they be able to ride bikes around town like I did? Would they have friends that wouldn’t move (because everyone moves around here)? Would they feel safe? Would they BE safe?
One of the biggest reasons why I CHOOSE CHEVERLY is because of the life my kids will get to experience living here. My 6 year old has had the same friends since he was two. They were his first friends. All of his friends live in town and we’ve only had one or two move. Parents of older kids let their kids ride bikes. Not only that, we see our friends everywhere we go in town. All the pics below are taken over the past week and all of these kids live in Cheverly. Kids that live in Cheverly are happy kids. I’m thankful that I was able to snap these photos over the past week. Enjoy!
