So a huge thank you to one of our newest Chevery residents who sent me a couple pictures the other day. This gentleman loves real estate…maybe about as much as me. I think that is why he found Cheverly and bought a really amazing house here. Anyhow, I thought these two pictures would make a fun comparison. One house is in North Arlington (near 66), the other is in Cheverly and is pending. I have to tell you that I’d rather live in a tiny one bedroom condo with my family in DC than ever live in Virginia where I’d have to drive on 66. No thank you. I hate the traffic on 66. It’s just not worth it. I’d die an early death if I had to drive on this road every day. Ok, back to real estate. The house in North Arlington is listed at a reduced price for 925. The kitchen is older- the house needs some work. It is 2000 square feet, but geesh it’s a lot of money. Now take a look at the home that just sold in Cheverly. Remodeled with fresh paint and decent backyard deck, it’s going for 295. Here’s my friend’s commentary on the situation: “The first house is out in far West Arlington. The other, Chev. Even if you subtracted 50k per extra bathroom in the VA house it would still cost 500k more for virtually the same house. To boot both are exactly 7.5 miles from McPherson Sq in opposite directions.” I just can’t wrap my mind around how much people are paying for a 2000 square foot home that isn’t that great. So tell your friends about Cheverly and save them some 500K. They will thank you for it.
