I’ve said it many times, the thing that makes Cheverly so wonderful is our community spirit. A week in a half ago Cheverly United Methodist Church united with the Girl Scouts of Cheverly to host a potluck for furloughed workers. This Thursday night St. Ambrose Men’s Club is hosting one as well! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I CHOOSE CHEVERLY, FRIENDS. Where else do you find places in the DMV area that have community potlucks?? I feel like I’ve won the lotto in living here. So come one, come all on Thursday night. Here are the fine details:
St. Ambrose Parish is doing its part to help those affected by the government shutdown – the St. Ambrose Men’s Club and other ministry groups at St. Ambrose invite you to a furloughed federal worker potluck supper in Fannon Hall at St. Ambrose on Thursday evening January 31 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
The St. Ambrose Men’s Club will be making chili, pulled pork, and other great entrees. We ask that if you are in a place where you are able and would be willing to provide a side dish or dessert, please contact John LeGloahec at firstname.lastname@example.org. Those affected by the shutdown are invited with no obligation. We invite the entire Cheverly community for some great food and fellowship to help our friends and neighbors navigate this uncertain time.
In addition, we will also accept donations of grocery and/or personal items for distribution to anyone who needs something that they may have passed on recently. The food bank will be open to all, please bring a bag and take what you need.
If you can and would like to help out with set-up, serving, and/or cleanup, please contact John LeGloahec at email@example.com or by phone at 301-641-3425. Please consider coming out and showing some Cheverly St. Ambrose love to our town.
