Cheverly Celebrates the Holidays!

Happy Holidays Cheverly! If you are new to the neighborhood, you won’t want to miss out on our small town traditions: The Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, the Christmas Tree Lighting,  Santa visiting the Town Hall and the Holiday Home Tour.

If you are in town for Thanksgiving, sign up for the run/walk “Turkey Trot”.

Every year on the first Friday of the month of December, Cheverly gathers in the town gym for some songs, cookies and drinks and then walks together to Legion Park. (the open grassy space in front of the Cheverly United Methodist Church) Once at the park, we have a countdown to light the Cheverly tree and warm ourselves near the yule log. It is a blast and you won’t want to miss it. Beginning at 6:30 at the Town Hall on Dec 6th, the evening will conclude by the tree at 7:45.

Saturday Dec 7th is a day you won’t want to leave town. It’s the day Santa comes to Town Hall and it is also the day of the Home Tour. The holiday party for the kids will start at 11 in the gym. There will be crafts to make and a children’s puppet show. BUT THE BEST NEWS IS THIS… In the past parents took pics of their kids on the Cheverly Santa chair with the Cheverly Santa. *Santa should be ready to see kids around noon* This year new Cheverly resident, Dawn, owner of Something Vintage is setting up a beautiful back drop so your pics won’t look like this:

Instead they will be sitting with Santa with a beautiful backdrop for your pictures. I’m so thrilled! A huge shout out to Barbara (who is the Rec Council Pres) for being open to something new.

And finally, please please please buy a ticket to the Home Tour. It is so much fun. Think of entering homes and getting ideas for decor, having drinks and snacks and even entering a raffle for some fun items. All of this for $25 which goes to support the Cheverly Weekday Nursery. It’s a win win… and for those of you who want to show off Cheverly to your friends, this is a great opportunity to do so. Check out their website for more information:
