Happy 2020! I’m still alive…I’m still in Cheverly and I’m still choosing Cheverly! (that’s an easy way to apologize for not blogging in a long time)
December was a crazy busy time for gathering in Cheverly with the Home Tour and various holiday parties and tree lighting etc. I do enjoy the winter, but I’m dreaming of the Cheverly pool. If you miss seeing your neighbors, there are lots of opportunities for you to gather with others in town during winter. Watercolor painting classes are beginning soon with local artist Liz Lescault www.lizlescault.com , Family fun night is this Friday at the Legion, Wildflower Yoga is hosting new classes, Bozwell fitness is continuing their boot camp and Greenleaf fitness has new classes for adults and children. If you are new to the neighborhood and are unaware of what is happening in town, head over to the Cheverly Legion for the Annual Neighborhood Meet and Greet.
On another note, I’m speaking about hospitality at a women’s meeting for my church this weekend. As a result, I’ve been thinking a lot about the American individualistic culture and I ran across this article, https://www.verywellmind.com/what-are-individualistic-cultures-2795273 Reading it made me think that the residents of Cheverly have really pushed against the individualistic culture we have in America. We gather and we are not self sufficient. It is one of the reasons why I Choose Cheverly and why I’m so grateful to raise my children here. Even though Cheverly still doesn’t have our own coffee shop, we gather in our homes. We create community and it is beautiful!
