Tuesday March 17, COVID Day 3 Journal

I’ve been thinking a lot today about canceling my Italy trip in Aug.  I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it yet. Europe was my home for many years and I spent many weekends in Italy camping out at the beach. I found some cheap airline tickets over our Christmas break and bought them. We planned to go with our family, one of my besties and my mom. My 7 year old is studying Roman history and I was so excited for him to see the ancient city. Sigh. What we thought would be a two week quarantine, might last through the summer.

Today I was at home for our homeschooling. It’s a lot. And all I need to say is this: I hope it gets easier. I can juggle work and kids when they are in school. I’m finding it really difficult for me and my husband to work when school is at home and we are the teachers! I was terrible at math and I’m having some flashbacks from middle school. Ahh!

And honestly I got upset today at Whole Foods. I went in to grab some things we needed with my gloves and mask and NO ONE was standing apart. In fact, people almost ran into me and everyone was staring. Oh my. I did look let’s just say…interesting and I felt a little strange about it but WE ALL HAVE TO HELP ONE ANOTHER OUT. From what I could see, there was no social distancing. Anyone else enraged about this?!

Honestly, while I have so much to be thankful for, I had a hard day. I think that is normal. I think there will be good days and bad days. I think we all need grace here- and I need to give myself a good dose of it.

Meanwhile, parks are shut down. My dentist shut down. Physical therapist shut down and everyone has new guidelines. This is a strange time. Lord, have mercy is my prayer.

To end on a happy note, our dear friends who live in Cheverly took a walk by our house. I loved seeing their faces, even from a distance.

I love how this is bringing my family together! It’s almost ironic that keeping our distance is bringing us closer.

Where’s the selfie of you in your mask and gloves??
